Jessica M. Bravo is an award-winning artist based in Northern Virginia and South Carolina, specializing in painting and printmaking. Raised in Lima, Peru, Bravo established a rigorous foundation with a degree in Graphic and Advertising Design from the Instituto Peruano de Publicidad (IPP). Following her time working at The Washington Post in Washington, D.C., she further developed her practice by earning a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. This dual background allows her current work to masterfully balance a structured, deliberate technique with personal perception. A recent highlight includes her painting, "Weight of Yellow," winning first place at the 2025 Georgetown Art & Wine Walk.

Artist Bio

My painting practice is an investigation of light, atmosphere, and three-dimensional form. Rooted in direct observation, my work focuses on still life subjects. The intersection of my graphic design background and fine arts practice shapes my approach to present work, balancing composition, value and color. While my setups are painted from direct observation, the deliberate pairing of elements often introduces a subtle sense of metaphor, lending the work an underlying, quiet mystery that touches on surrealism without losing its grounding in reality. Ultimately, my still lifes are an invitation to slow down and experience the world through a lens of focused, deliberate perception.
